For “humanitarian” purposes and to “save the planet” and to bring attention to their “cause” we see people do all sorts of aggressive and hurtful “things” to gain attention and engage in the “righteous fight” for “what is right!”
But I am pretty sure that Jesus tells us to use the talents that He has given us, and to use our experiences and resources in ministry, in service, to earn a return for our Master – our Lord. And as best as I can tell, the return that the Master wants is what He has said He is looking for when He returns. Jesus said: “I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’” [Matthew 25:25-40]
Just do it! Do that! Me, you, your family, your church family, your denomination – EVERY follower of Jesus – now, today and every day without fail. And I predict that there will be a GREAT RETURN for the Master when He returns to see what we have done with what He gave us. We won’t have to “tell” people about Jesus and His love, mercy, compassion and forgiveness, for they will see it in action and THEY WILL COME TO US and ask us what gives us our passion, what gives us out motivation, what gives us our hope, what gives us our joy, what gives us the love we share? They will ask us why we do the things we are doing, asking nothing in return. And we will respond…..
And that’s what I think about that. Later, Dale
